ASDA and Macdonald Estates have today [15^th July 2009] confirmed that they will lodge a planning application for the first phase of the redevelopment of the former NCR site at Wester Gourdie later this month. 

A Public Exhibition of the plans will be held on Thursday 23^rd and Saturday 25^th July prior to an application being submitted to Dundee City Council for the development.  ASDA is also writing to local residents with information on the proposals. 

Working with Macdonald Estates, ASDA, recently voted the UK’s best value supermarket, is aiming to bring jobs, choice, quality produce, and its famous low prices to the people of west Dundee.  

The development would deliver:

• A new ASDA store with a sales area of 52,000 sq ft – similar in size to ASDA’s existing store in Milton, East Dundee.
• Up to 480 new local jobs, with a mixture of full and part-time positions, enabling ASDA’s colleagues to balance their work and family commitments.
• £24 million investment to the area.
• A petrol filling station, delivering our commitment to low cost fuel.
• 607 car parking spaces including 25 spaces for disabled customers and 22 for parents with children.
• 30 cycle racks.
• A recycling facility.
• An ASDA café.
• A full range of ASDA products including George clothing, Extra Special range, ASDA brand and Smart Price.
• ASDA’s low prices and more supermarket choice for local people.

The exhibition will include plans of the proposed store and visitors will be encouraged to make their views known at the exhibitions and through the questionnaires being made available.  The exhibition will be taking place on:

                   Dundee, DD2 4SR.

TIME:        4.00pm – 8.00 pm (Thursday) and 10.00am – 1.00pm (Saturday)
