|Major jobs boost for Brasswell Park, Dumfries|
Asda confirmed as occupier for proposed supermarket with creation of up to 350 new jobs
We are delighted to confirm Asda will be working with us to promote a new development in Dumfries at Brasswell Park.
Asda is bringing forward proposals to invest over £15 million in the area with the construction of a 40,000 sq ft (sales area) supermarket and the creation of up to 350 new jobs.
Alongside the store, we want to develop workshop units for small and medium sized businesses in the area. The proposed supermarket and workshop units will form the first phase of wider masterplan proposals for the Brasswell area, which include new commercial and tourism related uses.
Lisa Rooke, Property Communications Manager for Asda said:
"We're pleased to be bringing forward these exciting proposals for Dumfries in these times of economic uncertainty. We know that many Asda customers from the area are making the 70 mile round trip to our Carlisle store and our plans for Dumfries would bring Asda's quality products and famous low prices to the area and help keep shoppers in the town.
We believe that the new store can provide consumers with improved choices on where to carry out their supermarket shopping, as well as creating up to 350 jobs.
We look forward to consulting with the local community as our proposals progress and will be undertaking a programme of community engagements in the coming weeks"
