MACDONALD ESTATES LODGE PLANNING APPLICATION FOR LOCHGELLY SUPERMARKET

Following a successful Public exhibition of their proposals Macdonald Estates last week submitted a planning application to Fife Council last week for the development of a Supermarket at the  former Weathermac site at Auchterderran Road, Lochgelly.

If given the go-ahead, the development would include a foodstore, and petrol filling station, with the potential to create 180 additional jobs for the area.

Niall McLean, Development Manager Macdonald Estates said:“We were very pleased to meet so many Lochgelly residents at our recent exhibition and to hear their views on the proposed Supermarket development. Over 90% of those who responded to the  questionnaire we issued on the night confirmed that they thought that a new supermarket in Lochgelly was a good idea.

The comments received were very helpful and confirmed our view that there is a need and a desire for a supermarket in the Town. Many people told us of their frustration at the extra time and expense they incur having to go to Dunfermline, Glenrothes or Kirkcaldy to carry out their weekly shop.

We have now lodged the planning application with Fife Council and have arranged a further public exhibition to be held from 12 Noon until 6pm on Wednesday 29 April at the Lochgelly Centre. The plans will be on display and we look forward to answering any questions local residents may have about our proposals.
